(Cincinnati, Oh.)--A Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy was injured in a court room brawl Monday afternoon, during the court appearance of a man preparing to plead guilty to murder.

Leonard Lanier, 28, was preparing to plead guilty to the reduced charge of manslaughter, in the death of Strawberry Edwards, 21. Edwards, the mother of a 5-month-old child, was shot to death in an apartment in the 700 block of Dutch Colony Drive in February of 2013.

The courtroom erupted when a brother of Lanier, and a relative of Edwards, started fighting. Deputies surrounded the two and broke up the fight. Both people involved in the brawl were found to be in contempt of court and were taken to jail. A prosecutor had her glasses broken in the fight and a deputy sheriff suffered a broken finger.

When order was restored in the courtroom Lanier, was sentenced to 28 years in prison.
