(Boone County)--The Kentucky State Police have denied a request by the  Boone County Sheriff  to investigate an officer involved shooting.

On April 26th, 19-year old Samantha Ramsey was shot and killed by Deputy Tyler Brockman. The deputy was riding on the hood of a car when he fired 4 times into the windshield, hitting the woman who died in a Florence Hospital.

The Boone County Sheriff had asked to the Kentucky State Police to conduct an internal investigation to bring maximum transparency to the process.  That request was denied late Thursday afternoon. The KSP says they will not launch a formal investigation but they have offered to provide support for Boone County's internal investigation.
