Honda, Mazda, and Nissan are recalling vehicles with airbags that were made by Takata Corporation that could explode.
There have been no accidents related to the recalls.
Honda Motor Company has recalled 2.03 million vehicles with the air bag problem. Honda said the airbags are in 2000-2005 models.
Nissan Motor Company recalled 755,000 vehicles and Mazda Motor Company has recalled 160,000 vehicles.
All three companies had issued a similar recall last year, but in smaller numbers.
Toyota Motor Corporation has also recalled 2.27 million vehicles.
The defective models for Toyota include the Corolla, Matric, Tundra, Yaris, and Camry. The Honda models are the Fit, Element, and CR-V. Nissan models are the Cube and X-Trail, and recalled for Mazda are Atenza, and RX-8.
