Custard Pie

  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 cups milk, scalded
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 unbaked 9” pastry shell
  • Sprinkle of nutmeg
 Beat together the eggs, salt and sugar.  Slowly add the warm milk.  Add the vanilla and pour into the pastry.  Sprinkle with nutmeg. 

Place in a preheated 450 º F.º  oven and bake for 10 minutes.  Reduce to 325 º F. and bake 30 to 40 minutes or until a sharp knife blade comes out clean.
