·         2 c. sugar

·         2 c. flour

·         1 stick butter

·         1/4 c. cocoa c. water

·         2 eggs

·         1/2 c. buttermilk

·         1 t. soda

Blend together the sugar and flour.

In a saucepan heat the butter, cocoa and water until butter is melted.

Whisk in the eggs.

Stir the soda in to the buttermilk and stir in.

Beat sugar mixture into the butter mixture and put into a greased jell-roll pan. Bake at 400 for 30 minutes.

Frost while warm.

THE FROSTING:

·         1 stick butter, melted

·         1/4 c. cocoa

·         1 t. vanilla

·         1 pound confectioners’ sugar

·         1 cup nuts, optional

Beat together and spread on warm cake. Cool.
