(Cincinnati) -- The economy is a major focus of Mitt Romney's message in the Buckeye State.  The Republican presidential candidate kicked off a bus tour this week in Ohio, where a new poll finds him trailing President Obama by 5 points.  The Ohio Newspaper Organization poll finds Obama with a 51 percent to 46 percent lead.

Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan spoke in Cincinnati on Tuesday at Byer Steel Group in Carthage.  But, he didn't talk about the polls.  He talked about the economy, national debt, medicare and medicaid, and national defense.

The final question in the town hall meeting came from Barry Silver of Amberley Village.  (See video)  He says until recently, he was firmly in the Obama camp.  Now, he's leaning heavily toward Romney, because he was disgusted by the Obama administration's reaction to attacks on US embassies in the Middle East.  Silver says his number one issue is the threat of Iran getting a nuclear bomb, and attacking Israel and the United States.

Republicans have been asking voters if they're better off than they were four years ago.  Barbie Baldwin of Covington says yes, and no.  She says financially, her family is doing okay, but she says the future of the country looks "dismal".  Baldwin says she's not gung ho behind Romney, but she likes him better than the alternative.

Steve Sepulveda isn't completely convinced by the Romney-Ryan platform.  But he says if he doesn't vote for them, he won't vote at all.  He says the Republican candidates are saying the right things, now he just hopes they follow through.
